COACHELLA MADNESS

I am back in NYC after a red-eye flight with a stop-over in Atlanta. I'm very tired today and have lost most of my voice so I guess you could say it was a good COACHELLA (my 4th one actually).

DAY ONE:
I thought Wilco were great! I only really heard Snow Patrol, Keane, Weezer and Coldplay from a distance but it was cool to hear the hits. I blocked out most of Chris Martin's stage bantering. He was entirely too chatty...

Some people were freaking out over Bauhaus. I'll say it takes some balls to start the set with "Bela Lugosi's Dead" so hats off to them for that. I heard Peter Murphy was hanging upside down on stage and had facial hair.

DAY TWO
Sloan packed the Mojave tent for an early set on Sunday. I was very happy for them! I was a tad worried since their set started early at 1:30. Most people don't show up until later and prefer to be poolside for the early part of the day.

MIA ripped it and Kasabian were entertaining in the tent next to her.

Arcade Fire were magical! A definite highlight even though they had a bit of problems with their sound.

My other highlight was New Order. I've never seen them before and always have loved them. The set was short and sweet - an hour of new tracks, New Order and Joy Division classics including my all time fave 'Regret"!

Trent from Nine Inch Nails is just too tortured for my tastes but it was fun dancing with thousands people to "Closer".

Here's some random VIP Lounge spotting in case anyone cares:

Cameron Diaz - she raced by me at one point with no Justin Timberlake in tow but I heard he was there with her.

Scott Speedman - the hunky actor from Felicity - he told my friend he was 'fucked up'. Too funny!

JC Chasez - I got introduced to him by my old Canadian music pal Spookey Rueben - that was a tad surreal.

Vincent Gallo was representing - still sporting the black leather jacket and full beard.

Ed from Chemical Brothers hanging with Tim Burgess; Chris from Sloan was chatting with rapper k-os.

The best had to be when Nicole Richie and her entourage got her security guard to ask my friend David if she could go ahead of him in line for the porta-potty. She then signed his ticket stub for him. I told him that he should sell it on eBay!

I also scored a free pair of Converse sneakers! Woo!
